In accordance with the Australian Federal Police Act 1979 (the Act), the Australian Federal Police (AFP) provides community policing services to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

In accordance with the Act the Commonwealth and ACT Governments entered into an arrangement for the provision of policing services in June 2006.
